Newly signed Washington Capitals goaltender Darcy Kuemper won his first Stanley Cup in June with the Colorado Avalanche and as per tradition, finally had his day with the famed Cup.

Kuemper spent the day with Lord Stanley in his hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan making several meaningful stops along the way.
One of the first places Kuemper took the Cup was Pattison Children's Hospital where he went around to different patient's rooms.

"We really wanted to do what we could to brighten their day," Kuemper told WashCaps.com.
And brighten their day he did.
The hospital took to its Instagram account to mark the occasion writing, "We are so grateful for special moments like this that can help bring smiles to Saskatchewan kids' faces who are receiving care in hospital".
The next stop on the tour was the Saskatoon Police Station where his dad is on the force.
"I wanted to share it with the officers families," Kuemper said.
All the officers and their families gathered and waited in line at the station for their photo opp with the most famous trophy in sports history.

To round out the special day, Kuemper and his family went back to their home to soak up the last few hours with the Cup.
"I spent the evening just with family and friends to share the win with them," said Kuemper. "The day was amazing and was everything I could've ever wanted it to be."
