The National Hockey League announced today the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round schedule and broadcast information between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders, which begins Wednesday, August 12 at 3 p.m. at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Games 1, 2, 3, 4, and if necessary, 5 will be televised on NBC Sports Washington and streamed live on the MyTeams app and NBCSportsWashington.com. Broadcast information for Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will be announced at a later date.

NBC Sports Washington will surround all seven potential first-round games with at least two hours of live Capitals news, analysis and commentary. Caps Pregame Live and Caps Postgame Live will continue to feature extended one-hour formats, which will also be available to stream live on the MyTeams app and NBCSportsWashington.com.

All Capitals playoff games will broadcast on 106.7 The Fan (when not conflicting with Washington Nationals baseball) and on 94.7 FM The Drive, and on the 24-hour radio channel, Caps Radio 24/7, devoted specifically to the Capitals. In addition to broadcasting all games, Caps Radio 24/7 will continue to provide instant news and access to the Capitals, including live game audio, exclusive Capitals playoff-related hockey content throughout the day. The channel is available through the Caps Mobile App by accessing the "Caps Radio 24/7" button at the bottom of the home screen, through WashingtonCaps.com and also through TuneIn radio, a free app that helps people find and listen to music, sports, news and talk content on the web.

The Metropolitan Division-champion Capitals will face the New York Islanders in the playoffs for the eighth time, and the first since Washington defeated the New York Islanders in seven games in 2015. The Capitals finished the 2019-20 season with a record of 41-20-8 record, claiming the Metropolitan Division for the fifth consecutive season. The Capitals became the eighth franchise in NHL history to win five consecutive division titles and the first since the Anaheim Ducks from 2012-13 to 2016-17. With 90 points in 69 games before the suspension-shortened 2019-20 season, the Capitals were again on pace to reach the 100-point mark.
