SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have acquired forward Brett Ritchie and defenseman Connor Mackey from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Nick Ritchie and defenseman Troy Stecher.

The 29-year-old Ritchie has registered 6-2-8 and 23 penalty minutes (PIM) in 34 games with the Flames this season. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario has tallied 48-32-80 and 253 PIM in 375 career NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Stars and Flames.
Ritchie was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round (44th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
The 26-year-old Mackey has registered 2-1-3 and nine PIM in 10 games with the Flames this season. The 6-foot-2, 197-pound native of Tower Lake, Illinois has recorded 3-4-7 and 31 PIM in 19 career NHL games over the past three seasons. In 2021-22, Mackey led Stockton (AHL) defensemen with 5-31-36 in 53 games.
Ritchie registered 19-16-35 and 63 PIM in 82 games with the Coyotes over the past two seasons. Stecher appeared in 61 games with the Coyotes in 2022-23, tallying seven assists and 29 PIM.
