11/12 Devils vs. Sabres: 3 Things We Learned

The Devils extended their winning streak to four and their home record to 6-0-1 after defeating the Buffalo Sabres, 4-2, tonight at Prudential Center with goals by Kyle Quincey, Nick Lappin, Kyle Palmieri and John Moore. Here's what we learned:
1) Palmieri was right. It was just a matter of time. After generating a plethora of offensive chances, but not having much on the scoresheet to show for it, the Devils were committed to staying the course and believed that the goals would eventually come. The focus has been on Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique and Palmieri, who haven't been able to find the back of the net as much as they'd like, but who nabbed all three stars of the game tonight with two assists apiece for Hall and Henrique and the eventual game winner for Palmieri.

2) Even without the goal tonight, Quincey had an outstanding game, including three blocked shots that are sure to leave a mark. His game isn't flashy, but it sure is effective and that's exactly why Ray Shero signed him at the start of training camp.
3) The Devils are now 0-19 on the power play in the past five games, including 0-4 tonight with just under six minutes with the extra man. At the start of the season, they said they wanted more goals 5-on-5 and to not have to rely on their power play to get the job done. Good news is they're doing just that and have been winning without any goals on the man advantage. Bad news is they have a powerless power play and will look to rectify that situation before they head out on their upcoming road trip.
The Devils (8-3-3) have a complete day off tomorrow, but will return to Prudential Center on Monday for a quick practice before heading to Dallas for their game on Tuesday night.
