The Devils have recalled defenseman Kevin Bahl from Utica of the American Hockey League and re-assigned blueliner Simon Nemec to Utica. Bahl will join the team for Wednesday's noon practice.
Bahl, 22, appeared in four preseason games for New Jersey, recording a plus-1 and four shots. He's played in 24 NHL games in his career over parts of the past two seasons, totaling six points (1g-5a).
The 6-foot-6, 230-pound defenseman played in 17 games last season for the Devils, posting one goal and four points. He played the majority of the season with Utica, appearing in 54 games and recording 16 points (3g-16a).
Nemec, the Devils' first-round pick (second overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft, played in three preseason games for New Jersey. The 18-year-old won a bronze medal with Slovakia at the Winter Olympic Games in February.
The Devils open the season Thursday, Oct. 13 at Philadelphia.
