Blitzer Discusses Devils GM and Coach Hirings
There was one negative when it came to Fitzgerald's credentials according to Blitzer.
"The negative on Tom just to throw it out there is, he didn't win the [Draft] Lottery," joked Blitzer.
Blitzer also discussed the hiring Lindy Ruff as the 19th Head Coach for the Devils franchise.
"I was able to spend significant amount of time with Lindy and he impressed Josh and myself and our entire group with his experience with his success at every level," Blitzer said. "During his 25 plus coaching career, his enthusiasm, his ability to communicate extremely well, the way he's developed players over the years. We just think he's very well suited to be the leader on the ice for this organization at this point in time."
"He'll be guiding a very bring and young group and on the fan side of me, I can't wait to watch this team."
The Devils co-Managing Partner also described the impact former Devils standout Martin Brodeur has had as an Advisor and member of the Devils Front Office.
"It's been a huge added value and we've really appreciated it, and enjoyed it as well," said Blitzer on Brodeur's impact in his Advisor role. "We're going to have a very exciting draft, and that coupled with our prospects and our roster again is very exciting as well at the future as it relates to Marty's role."
Blitzer also expressed excitement about the future of the organization especially when it comes to the team on the ice and potential moves for the off-season.
"We've got that great core. We have pieces coming in, we have moves, obviously that we would intent to make over the summer," said Blitzer. "I'd like to think that we will be a very competitive team on the ice next year as we continue to grow and build on the organization."
