The New Jersey Devils today traded defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the Edmonton Oilers, in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. The condition is as follows, if Edmonton wins a first-round series in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Edmonton's 2022 fourth-round pick becomes Edmonton's 2022 third-round pick.
Kulikov signed a one-year deal worth $1,150,000 with New Jersey on October 22, 2020. He posted two assists with 26 penalty minutes in 38 regular-season games this year. Kulikov is due to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
New Jersey now has ten picks in the 2022 NHL Draft: the club's own selections in rounds one through seven; in addition to the Oilers' conditional fourth-rounder, the New York Islanders fourth-round pick (conditional acquired in the Kyle Palmieri/Travis Zajac deal on Wednesday) and Columbus' fifth-round selection.
