Today, New Jersey Devils restricted free-agent forward Jesper Boqvist accepted his qualifying offer, which results in a one-year, two-way contract worth $874,125 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Boqvist, 23, completed his third NHL season, all with New Jersey. The 6'0", 180lbs. forward set career highs last season in games played (56), goals (10), assists (13) and points (23). Boqvist recorded a three-game goal streak and four-game point streak, which also marked career highs. Additionally, he achieved a milestone last season skating in his 100th career NHL game on March 23. In 119 career NHL games, he's scored 18 goals and 16 assists for 34 points with 20 PIMs.
The left-handed shot also played in seven games this season for New Jersey's American Hockey League affiliate, Utica Comets, tallying eight points (2g-6a) in seven games.
