A week ago, the Devils launched the first third jersey in the franchise's four-decade history. And the mastermind behind the project was legend and Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur.
"It was exciting that the organization asked me to design the third jersey," the three-time Stanley Cup champion netminder told the Speak of the Devils podcast. "The fact that the team will be wearing something different, something completely out of the box will be pretty cool for me."
The new jersey has many interesting tidbits and elements, but there was one dealbreaker for Brodeur.
"There was no question it was going to be black," he said. "For years people wanted that. It makes you look mean, it makes you look big. It was going to be black if I was going to be involved in it."
