Newark, NJ -The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Ben Street to a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $425,000 at the AHL level. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.
Street, 32, spent last season with the Anaheim Ducks, splitting time in the NHL and with their AHL affiliate in San Diego. In 2017-18, the left-shooting forward set professional career highs scoring 21 goals and 44 assists for 65 points in 73 regular-season games with Grand Rapids, serving as an alternate captain. His point total led the Griffins, while his goal total placed second. A veteran of 460 regular-season AHL contests with Wilkes-Barre, Abbotsford, Lake Erie, San Antonio, Grand Rapids and San Diego, from 2010-19, Street has 153 goals and 230 assists for 383 points and 136 penalty minutes. In addition, the Coquitlam, BC, native won a Calder Cup with Grand Rapids in 2017 and skated in the 2014 AHL All-Star Game.
Prior to signing with New Jersey, Street played for Calgary (2012-13), Colorado (2014-2016), Detroit (2016-17) and Anaheim (2018-19) at the NHL level. In his 56-game NHL career, he has posted three goals and five assists for eight points and 10 penalty minutes. In 2018-19, he played in a career high 21 NHL games with the Ducks, notching five points (3g-2a). Undrafted, the 6-0, 190lb. forward played four seasons, 2005-2010, with at the University of Wisconsin, winning a national championship in 2006.
