The New Jersey Devils today traded goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for San Jose's sixth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, 164th overall.
Blackwood, 26, was New Jersey's second-round selection and 42nd overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. In five seasons from 2018-19 to 2022-23, he appeared in 152 games going 65-57-18 with a .906 save percentage and 2.97 goals-against average.
With the addition of the pick, New Jersey now has seven selections in the 2023 NHL Draft. The club also has its own picks in rounds two, four, five, six and seven while also owning a third-round pick from the Damon Severson trade to Columbus (originally Calgary's selection acquired by Columbus via Seattle, 80th overall).
