NEWARK, NJ -The New Jersey Devils have announced that the team will don the recently unveiled heritage jerseys inspired by uniforms worn from 1982 to 1992 for home games against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday, Dec. 23, the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, Jan. 10, the New York Rangers on Thursday, Jan. 31 and the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, Mar. 1. The Devils originally debuted the uniforms during the team's inaugural season in 1982, sporting the green and red color scheme for ten years at Brendan Byrne Arena. The ten-year period between 1982 and 1992 when the team donned the uniforms was marked by a series of notable "firsts" and historical events in Devils history including:
• Jun. 9, 1982: In the Devils first-ever draft, they select Ken Daneyko with its second pick in the first round, 18th overall, and Pat Verbeek in the third round, 43rd overall.
• Dec. 4, 1983: Ron Low and Glenn Resch combine for the first shutout in Devils' history, a 6-0 victory over Detroit.
• Apr. 3, 1988: John MacLean scores the game-winning goal in overtime as the Devils defeat the Blackhawks, 4-3, to clinch the team's first-ever playoff spot.
• Jun. 16, 1990: Devils select Martin Brodeur in the first round, 20th overall, Corey Schwab in the 10th round, 200th overall, and Valeri Zelepukin in the 11th round, 221st overall.
• March 26, 1992: Martin Brodeur and Jim Dowd make their playing debuts. Dowd becomes the first New Jersey-born player to suit up for the Devils.
