The Devils lost, 2-1, in overtime to Edmonton Saturday night with the lone goal coming from Miles Wood. Here's what we learned.
1) The Devils were outshot 43-20 and relied heavily on an outstanding performance by Cory Schneider. Taylor Hall said after the game that they spent way too much time in their own end, but was proud of the way his teammates battled, especially under the circumstances.

2) Yohann Auvitu was injured on his very first shift and limped off the ice. He took a little spin during the first TV timeout to test it, but never returned to the game. Once again, the Devils' defense was down to five. Damon Severson played a team-high 28:05 followed by Jon Merrill and Ben Lovejoy, who logged 27:38 and 26:38, respectively.
3) After the game, head coach John Hynes said he had lots of time to talk about the way his team played and was very proud of their effort on the second half of a back-to-back, where the opposition was rested, and then to have to play extra minutes against a very fast and talented team because of the injury to Auvitu. "That was a well earned point."
The Devils have a complete day off today before hosting the Florida Panthers at The Rock on Monday night.
