Devils honor January's top high school hockey players

On Sunday, February 17, the Devils invited out New Jersey Sports Zone's Top Five Goals of the Month winners. The Devils hosted the Buffalo Sabres for a 6 PM puck drop, and the five winners had the opportunity to come to the game and meet with Devils forward Miles Wood prior to puck drop.

Wood viewed the highlight video of all five goals and commented on their skills. It was Andrew Kutzman from Freehold Borough High School that came out with the number one goal in January. The video was then played in-game during the second intermission before a sold-out crowd of 16, 514 fans. Later in the week, on Thursday, February 21, January's High School Players of the Month presented by RWJBarnabas Health were invited out to the game when the Devils hosted the Ottawa Senators at Prudential Center. They were able to meet and take photos with Devils forward Drew Stafford prior to the game. The players were also presented a certificate to commemorate the honor by Stafford and RWJBarnabas Health executive Wendell Alexis.

The New Jersey Devils High School Player of the Month Program presented by RWJBarnabas Health continues this season, where the Devils honor high school student-athletes for their performance on the ice from December through February. The January 2019 winners were announced on February 8 as follows: Isla Okkinga (Kent Place, Girls Ice Hockey), Matt Ubertaccio (Madison, MCSSIHL), Tyler Sedlak (Don Bosco Prep, Gordon Conference), James Fusaro (Clifton, Big North Conference), Ronan Keenan (West Windsor-Plainsboro, Colonial Valley Conference), Oscar Worob (Montclair Kimberley, Essex/Union), Daniel Schnack (Pingry, Greater Middlesex/Skyland Conference) and John Gutt (St. John Vianney, Shore Conference).
