Devils Host Big Brothers Big Sisters, Make Donation I BLOG

There was a lot of brotherly love during Day 1 of the 2021 NHL Draft for the New Jersey Devils. The team drafted two brothers of NHL players in the first round, including one that will be future sibling teammates.
Luke Hughes, the younger brother of Devils center Jack, was selected fourth overall by New Jersey. Meanwhile, Chase Stillman, brother of Chicago prospect Riley and son of former NHLer Cory, was taken by the Devils with eh 29th pick.
Both Luke and Chase are younger brothers that were in part mentored by their older siblings. And the brother connections didn't just end with the hockey on Friday night.
The Devils Youth Foundation donated a $25,000 donation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties to support their remaining summer programming and back-to-school initiatives.

The Devils Youth Foundation hosted 16 Bigs and Littles from the program during their Draft Party at
Prudential Center
, which included meeting head coach Lindy Ruff and former Devils stars Martin Brodeur, Ken Daneyko and Patrik Elias. They also received Devils swag and a VIP Draft gift bag while getting to enjoy the party festivities and cheering on the Devils' selection of Luke.
"Supporting the educational and recreational programs of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson and Union Counties reflects the Devils Youth Foundation's mission to empower the youth in our community," said Foundation Chair Allison Blitzer. "On a great night for our organization where we are able to recognize the efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters, we also have the fun opportunity to welcome a little brother to join his big brother in our Devils family. Congratulations to Luke, Jack and the entire Hughes family on a special night and thank you to Big Brothers Big Sisters for all the mentoring work they do."
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson and Union Counties, which was founded in 2008, is a program that "creates and professionally supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth and is a credible social justice organization embedded in our community."
