Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Blake Coleman to a one-year, two-way contract worth $660,000 at the NHL level. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Coleman, 25, spent most of the 2016-17 season with Albany (AHL), playing in 52 regular-season games and scoring 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points with 56 penalty minutes. He tallied one assist in four 2017 Calder Cup Playoff matches. The 5-11, 200lb., forward made his NHL debut with New Jersey on January 12 at Edmonton. He played in 23 regular-season games with the Devils and notched two points (1g-1a) to go along with 27 penalty minutes. Coleman scored his first career NHL goal on March 26 vs. Dallas against Kari Lehtonen and had his first career NHL assist/point on January 17 at Minnesota.
The Plano, TX native has spent the past two seasons with the Devils' organization since turning professional after the 2014-15 campaign. In 2015-16, his season was limited to 14 games with Albany because of season-ending shoulder surgery. Coleman studied at Miami University (Ohio) (NCHC) from 2011-15, where he was named the 2015 NCHC Tournament MVP as part of the Red Hawks' conference championship squad. Born November 11, 1991, Coleman was New Jersey's second choice (3rd round), 75th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.
