The New Jersey Devils today announced the signings of four players, defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon, and three forwards- Mason Geertsen, Jack Dugan, Brian Pinho- to two-way contracts. The announcements were made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Wotherspoon, 29, signed a two-year, two-way deal with a contract breakdown as follows: $750,000 at the NHL level and $300,000 in the AHL for 2022-23 and $775,000 at the NHL level and $325,000 in the AHL for 2023-24. He played in his first season with New Jersey's AHL affiliate, Utica Comets, and recorded 21 points (3g-18a) in 53 regular-season games. The 6'2", 205lbs. defenseman led Utica with a +26 plus/minus rating and also skated in five playoff contests. Wotherspoon represented Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. The left-handed shot defenseman has totaled 486 career regular-season games (29g-140a-169pts) at the AHL level, playing for the Stockton Heat (Calgary), San Antonio Rampage (Arizona) and Lehigh Valley Phantoms (Philadelphia). Wotherspoon was named an assistant captain while he was with the Heat and Phantoms. Additionally, he collected five assists in 30 games played in the NHL with Calgary.

Geertsen, 27, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $300,000 at the AHL level ($350,000 guaranteed). He was claimed via waivers by New Jersey from the New York Rangers on October 3, 2021, and completed his first career NHL season. The 6'4", 225lbs forward played in 25 games for the Devils and his five fighting majors led the team. Additionally, Geertsen finished second on New Jersey with 77 penalty minutes behind defenseman P.K. Subban.
Dugan, 24, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 in the AHL. He was drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights in the fifth round, 142nd overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft. The right-handed shot spent the past two seasons from (2020-21 to 2021-22) in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas) and earned 51 career points (16g-35a) in 72 regular-season games. The 6'2", 210lbs. forward also played at Providence from 2018-19 to 2019-20. His 52 points (10g-42a) led the NCAA for the 2019-20 campaign, while his 64 PIM ranked first on Providence. While with the Friars, he was teammates with current Devils prospects Tyce Thompson and Patrick Moynihan.
Pinho, 27, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $325,000 in the AHL. He spent the past four seasons in the AHL with the Hershey Bears (Washington) and earned 78 career points (40g-38a) in 172 regular season contests with a plus/minus rating of +22. Washington selected Pinho in the sixth round, 174th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. Before his professional experience, Pinho played in four seasons at Providence College from 2014-15 to 2017-18 and was named team captain for the 2017-18 campaign. He recorded 115 career points (39g-76a) in 156 regular season contests, and helped Providence win an NCAA championship in 2014-15.
