Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today traded defenseman Will Butcher and New Jersey's fifth-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft to Buffalo for future considerations.
Butcher, 26, started his career in New Jersey and played four seasons, 2017-18 to 2020-21, with the Devils scoring 14 goals and 92 assists for 106 points and 34 penalty minutes in 234 regular-season contests. He added one goal and three assists in five games during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was named to the 2018 NHL All-Rookie Team after his first season.
