PRE-GAME STORY

TAMPA, FL - The Devils complete their road trip with another tough test today against Tampa Bay. Devils head coach Lindy Ruff talked about the task that lies ahead for his squad.
"If you look at the first period in Florida, there was a lot of skating and a lot of open ice for us. We had 22 shots on goal and probably could have had another six or seven. I don't think we're going to get that many opportunities against this team because they'll be tighter defensively," Ruff stated.
"We looked at both these games (prior to the trip). Florida team playing extremely well and Tampa playing extremely well. How that matchup looks like and how it'll work out."
One of Tampa Bay's biggest strengths is their power play, which has been even hotter as of late with six goals in their last eight games. Ruff said one of the keys for his club is staying out of the penalty box.
"It's one thing we try to stress every game," he said. "Last game, our discipline was good. We need to try to stay within two to three penalties per game. We know how lethal their power play can be. They've got shooters, they've got different options, they've got Hedman at the back-end. If we're taking a penalty, it has to be a good one."
Another key for the club, Ruff noted, is for the Devils to play the game quickly -- both in terms of moving their feet and moving the puck.
"Their defense, they have some players who are really dominating in the back-end with the small ice. We have to move the puck quickly," he said. "If we're skating, motion will create some extra opportunities but if we get stopped (on the wall), they're a good team once they're in their system."
LINEUP CHANGES
The only lineup change mentioned by Ruff was that Jesper Boqvist will be out of the lineup with an upper-body injury. Alexander Holtz rotated into Boqvist's line at practice yesterday along with Yegor Sharangovich, meaning it's possible that line just sees Sharangovich shifting to the middle.
"Right now, we've got Holtz going back in the lineup. We'll have to see if Alex can help us out."
Projected lineup for today:
Zacha - Hischier - Tatar
Johnsson - Mercer - Bratt
Holtz - Sharangovich - Kuokkanen
Vesey - McLeod - Zetterlund
Graves - Hamilton
Smith - Severson
Siegenthaler - Subban
Mackenzie Blackwood gets the start in goal.

PREVIEW

DEVILS (7-5-3) at LIGHTNING (9-3-3)
TV:4:00 PM ET; Televised on MSG+
Head-to-Head
The Devils visit Tampa for the first time in almost three years on Saturday -- last visit was November 25, 2018.
Last season with intradivisional play, the teams did not meet and the year before, both meetings were in New Jersey as the game at Tampa Bay was cancelled due to being scheduled after the March 13 pause.
In those meetings, the Devils won 3-1 in the most recent clash and lost 7-6 in overtime.
Devils team scope:
The Devils have dropped each of their last three contests now, two in regulation and one in a shootout. They are one point behind Columbus for the second wild card spot and two behind Philadelphia for the first wild card spot.
Four players are tied atop the Devils leaderboard in points with 11: Pavel Zacha, Andreas Johnsson, Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt.
Lightning team scope:
The Lightning started the season slowly but really picked it up after that. After starting the season 2-3-1 and without a single regulation win in their first seven games, since that time they've gone nine straight games without a loss in regulation (7-0-2).
Despite their hot stretch, the Bolts are still in third place in the Atlantic Division, four points behind Toronto for second and six points back of Florida for first.
Steven Stamkos leads the way with nine goals and 18 points in 15 games.
By the Numbers:
Andrei Vasilevskiy has started 13 of 15 games so far this season for Tampa Bay with a record of 8-2-0, 2.25 goals-against average and .922 save percentage. Brian Elliott is 1-1 in two starts with a 3.08 GAA and .880 save percentage. This is the first of back-to-back games for the Lightning with a game against the Wild on Sunday so there's a chance Elliott could get a rare start today.
Tampa Bay's power play is ranked 13th in the NHL at 20% and their penalty kill is 9th at 85.7%. The Devils PP is 24th at 15.9% and PK is 25th at 76.9%.
Dawson Mercer has six points in his last five games to lead the Devils. Brayden Point has seven in five to lead the Lightning.
