Alexander Holtz tied the game late in the third period before winning it in overtime as New Jersey won its opening match of the Prospects Challenge against Montreal, 4-3, at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo.
Holtz score with 1:46 remaining in regulation with a nasty shot into the top corner. He followed that up with a one-timer on the power play in the extra session to cap the game for New Jersey.
"I wanted that overtime winner," said Holtz, whose winner came after a previous shot was stopped. "It's nice to get the puck in the net. The first I didn't get exactly what I wanted, but the second one went top corner. I felt good about that one."
