Devils forward and 2023 All-Star Jack Hughes was named the NHL's First Star for the month of January. Hughes had an outstanding January where he scored 13 goals and had 10 assists for 23 points, which led the NHL. The Devils forward had four multi-goal games and nine multi-point games. He averaged a goal a game throughout the month and over a point per game through New Jersey's 13 contests in January.

Hughes is currently on an eight-game points streak, tied for a career-high, which is the second time this season he's hit this mark. In his previous eight-game streak, the 2019 First-Overall Pick had 13 points, eight of which were goals. In addition to the streak, Hughes has four straight multi-point games, one back from tying a franchise record set by Scott Gomez (2005-06) and Brendan Shanahan (1989-90).
The forward's impressive stats don't end there. Hughes is the fastest player in franchise history to hit the 60 point mark in a season, which he achieved against the Vegas Golden Knights on Jan. 24.
He leads New Jersey goals
(33) and points (64) and is fifth in the NHL for goals and ninth in the league for points. January's First-Star also has 19 power play points, six of them are goals.
Hughes will represent the Devils in
NHL All-Star Weekend
for the second straight year before New Jersey resumes its schedule on Feb. 6 at home against the Canucks.
