PRE-GAME REPORT

EDMONTON, AB --
Two teams with identical records will compete against one another at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The Devils and Oilers boast a lot of similarities, their record of course, but also they are two teams that can make you pay with their speed.
Three of the top four point-getters in the NHL this early season will go head-to-head with Jesper Bratt sitting in the four spot, while Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl sit at No. 1 and 2, respectively.
Both clubs are fighting to keep their win streaks alive, the Devils going for five in a row, while the Oilers are hoping to string six straight victories together, which should make for an exciting and competitive matchup tonight.

Speed x2

Both teams tonight rely heavily on their speed game and both teams come into the game with identical records. Blink and you might miss something happen.
"We need to be ready, it's going to be a fast game," Tomas Tatar said, "Obviously we have to focus on our game more than theirs, we know what their strengths are and we have to be aware of it. I think we are playing very good defensively now exiting the zone, we have to be strong on the walls and that's the recipe for tonight."

Devils Game

Similar styles of play, yes, but the focus must remain on how you play versus how theyplay and that's the mentality that needs to be dialed in tonight.
"You've got two teams with good speed, we know we want to use our speed, to get pucks behind," head coach Lindy Ruff said, "We want to make sure that we get them playing a lot in their zone. You know, we don't want to get caught up in a transition game, but I think if we utilize our speed, we can neutralize some of theirs."

Blackwood vs. Skinner

Mackenzie Blackwood returns between the pipes after posting the victory in Vancouver on Tuesday. He'll go head-to-head with Stuart Skinner, who is the confirmed starter for the Edmonton Oilers.
Stuart will make his fourth start of the season and has a 2-1-0 record and a .955 save percentage. The 24-year-old has 18 games of NHL experience.

Marino Hits 200

John Marino has been a welcome addition to the Devils blueline, traded to New Jersey during the off-season. Marino has helped stabilize the backend and mostly paired with Ryan Graves this season has been a fixture shutting down some of the league's top players.
"I didn't even know it was 200 games tonight, to be honest," Marino said, "It flies by, and next thing you know it's 200 games."
Marino, who prior to this season had only played for the Pittsburgh Penguins was actually drafted by the Edmonton Oilers and traded to the Penguins in 2019 for a conditional 2021 sixth-round pick.

The team will try for a fifth straight victory, which as a club has not been accomplished since a span between Dec. 15, 2017, and Dec. 27, 2017.
Jesper Bratt has the opportunity, with at least a point against the Oilers, to set a franchise record for points in 11 games to start a season. Bratt assisted on Nico Hischier's power-play goal in Vancouver to tie the team record with Tom Higgins set back in 1984-85.
Oilers team scope:
