The Devils have signed goaltender Kyle Shapiro to an amateur tryout contract (ATO), and he will serve as the team's backup Thursday night at UBS Arena against the New York Islanders.
Shapiro, 28, currently serves as an assistant coach with the NAHL's New Jersey Titans program based in Middletown, and is a regular emergency backup goaltender for the team.
