The Devils have a tough task ahead of them on Saturday, facing off against the defending (back-to-back) Stanley Cup Champions. The Bolts are 9-3-3 on the season and 7-1-2 in their last 10 games.
"They've got a good defense. They have a power play that can be lethal and it's a group that knows how to win," said Devils head coach Lindy Ruff. "They know how to defend. They're really sound with their system. They've been playing it and won a couple championships with it. It's a group that believes in what they're doing."
As for what the Devils need to do in order to come away from Saturday's contest with two points, it all comes down to taking advantage of their limited chances and being strong defensively.
"We know that we're not going to have a lot of time in the (Lightning) zone. They put a lot of pressure on you. We're really going to have to battle to get inside," Ruff continued. "Defensively, we've got to make sure we get into better position than we did last night. We got on the wrong side of the puck a couple times and it cost us dearly on a couple of goals."
Tomas Tatar said that experience is one of the biggest things the Devils are going to have to overcome.
"They're a team that's been together for a long time. They had some tough times in previous playoffs which gave them the good experience to win two in a row," he began.
"Good leadership, a lot of experienced guys there."
