Born on October 28, 1998, the native of Skalica, Slovakia, Studenic was New Jersey's seventh selection, 143rd overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft. Prior to his professional experience, the 6'1", 181lb forward spent the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He recorded 78 career points (38g-40a) in 120 regular-season contests with Hamilton and helped the Bulldogs win the 2017-18 Memorial Cup. Additionally, he earned five goals and collected 14 assists in 28 career postseason games with Hamilton.
Studenic also spent parts of three seasons with New Jersey's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Binghamton Devils, from 2018-19 to 2020-21. The forward earned 52 career points (25g-27a) at the AHL level in 123 games played.
Studenic represented his home country in international play, participating once at the U18 World Junior Championship (WJC) in 2015-16, and twice at the U20 WJC in 2016-17 and 2017-18. He earned two assists in five games at the 2017-18 WJC, while skating in 10 contests for Slovakia at the 2016-17 and 2017-18 WJC. Studenic appeared twice at the IIHF World Championship (2018-19 & 2020-21), and recorded five points (1g-5a) in 15 contests.
Devils Sign Forward A.J. Greer
Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today re-signed restricted free-agent forward A.J. Greer to a one-year contract worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $130,000 at the AHL level. The announcement was made by New Jersey Devils Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Greer, 24, was acquired by the Devils from the New York Islanders in the Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri trade on April 7, 2021, along with Mason Jobst, New York's first round draft-selection in the 2021 NHL Draft (Chase Stillman) and a 2022 fourth-round pick. Greer appeared in one game for the Devils, logging seven penalty minutes and recording one fight. Additionally, the forward spent parts of three seasons with the Colorado Avalanche from 2016-17 to 2018-19. Greer has dressed in 38 career regular-season NHL contests and recorded six points (1g-5a), in addition to posting 54 penalty minutes.
Born on December 14, 1996, the native of Joliette, Quebec, Greer was Colorado's second-round selection, 39th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. Prior to his professional experience, the 6'3", 210lb forward spent parts of two seasons skating for Boston University (NCAA) from 2014-15 to 2015-16. He dressed in 55 career contests at Boston University, while collecting 12 points (4g-8a) and winning one NCAA Hockey East title in 2015.
Greer also spent part of the 2015-16 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He served as an alternate captain for the Huskies and collected 27 points (16g-11a) in 33 regular-season contests. Greer helped Rouyn-Noranda win the 2015-16 Presidents Cup, after netting 12 goals and tallying 10 assists for 22 points in 20 postseason games. Additionally, Greer skated in the American Hockey League (AHL) for parts of five seasons with the San Antonio Rampage (2016-17 to 2017-18), Colorado Eagles (2018-19 to 2019-20) and then dressed for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Binghamton Devils in 2020-21. Overall, Greer notched 143 total points (63g-80a) in 219 games played at the AHL level and was named an AHL All-Star in 2016-17.
