Miles Wood Signs

The New Jersey Devils today agreed to a one-year contract with restricted free agent forward Miles Wood worth $3,200,000. Wood was initially scheduled to go to arbitration on Saturday. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Wood, 26, enters his eighth season with the Devils after he was limited to three games in 2021-22 due to surgery and rehabilitation on his right hip. The 6'2", 195lbs. forward has played in 326 career games and tallied 121 points (65g-56a). In 2017-18, Wood set career-highs in goals (19), points (32) and games played in a single season with 76. Additionally, the left-handed shot led the Devils in penalty minutes for three consecutive seasons in 2016-17 (86), 2017-18 (84) and 2018-19 (91). Wood has also served as an assistant captain for New Jersey during parts 2020-21 and as well as last season.

Born on September 13, 1995, the native of Buffalo, NY was New Jersey's third selection, 100th overall, in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft. Wood played (remove 'in') one season at Boston College in 2015-16 and recorded 35 points (10g-25a) in 37 games. His 25 assists ranked second on the BC Eagles team.
Wood has played on the international stage with USA Hockey on multiple occasions, representing the United States at the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) 2014-15 under-20 World Junior Championship and 2015-16 World Championship. His father, Randy, played in parts of 11 seasons in the NHL for the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars from 1986-87 to 1996-97.
