For the fourth episode of the Devils Official Pausecast, our guest is Devils Hockey Network broadcaster, Chico Resch.

Resch returned to his home in Minnesota for now and described what he has been up to since the start of the pause.

"It's been indoor projects, a lot of thinking about, 'what does this mean, what is this about now.' We always are so busy that we don't always have time to sit and reflect but we almost have to be intentional now," said Resch. "You kind of have to be intentional about the things you have to do."

"Lots of zooms, some conference calls, but overall it's been good."

When Resch was asked about the impact this break will have when hockey is back, and he said he expects fans to be spirited.

"You don't know what you've got til it's gone," said Resch "I think for the fans, they'll come back with a vengeance with their enthusiasm."

"I just want to see a hockey game. The beauty of the skating, the passing and the shooting. Just that visual."

When asked about social distancing and how things are in Minnesota, Resch disclosed how he's going to make sure people stay six feet away.

"I'm going to get my goalie stick, and start carrying it around," Resch joked. Resch was inspired by his neighbor, the mayor of his town is carrying a six foot long pole.

Resch also discussed some of his home projects during the NHL pause.

"When we came home, we have an old house on the lake," said Resch. "But it has a cathedral ceiling that had sort of a caramel colored tile on the top." Resch's wife persuaded him to repaint the ceiling, although it required extra equipment.

"It's two stories in height, so I was up there for eight days straight painting that with an extension roller!" Resch said up next is changing the floor in the cabin to match.

Resch also discussed some positives from the season, including some players who have asserted themselves from the 2019-20 season so far.

"I think Mackenzie Blackwood established himself as the Devils goalie of the future. I think he's going to be a huge impact player. Nikita Gusev, I think he's showed he's adjusted to the NHL game," said Resch. "I think the other thing for me was the Bratt and Zacha combination," said Resch. "I just think [Pavel] Zacha and [Jesper] Bratt as a unit has come together and maybe they're stronger as a combo than as individuals."

The episode wrapped up on a familiar question from the podcast, when he was asked about his experience being on the NHL charter flights with the Devils.

"It's kind of a time, even when I played, it's sort of a cocoon, it's sort of a place to go where you can unwind," said Resch. "I love that time on the charter, we never chartered when I played. It makes you feel more like a team."

"I think it's one of the real special moments on a major league team is when you travel on those charters."
