Reynolds is home with his family, and said it is easy to keep his day busy and full of activities.
"In terms of how I'm staying busy with three daughters, a 10 year old, a 7 year old and a four year old, it's not difficult, I will tell you that. We are certainly staying plenty busy in and around our house," said Reynolds. "Homeschooling my girls through the first couple of weeks, the amount of appreciation and respect I have for teachers and what they do every day has gone through the roof. And a shoutout to my wife who I'm pretty convinced is superwoman, having gone through the last couple of weeks."
Reynolds and his family have used this time to refocus and align with two principals, perspective and appreciation.
"This is about perspective and appreciation. Perspective of what is going on in the world around us, and how we can do our part, and how we can make the most of this situation. And an appreciation for everyone who is out there doing more to help others, and an appreciation for our health and safety. Taking advantage and making the most of our time together."
There is even a nightly game competition between Reynolds and his wife, Emily, in which they battle it out for who is the best at a variety of board games.
"Every night when we put the girls down and we have some time to ourselves we got some game nights going," said Reynolds. "We have a nice little trophy and a champion will be crowned at the end of quarantine!"
Reynolds also discussed the conversations he has had with the NHL during the season pause, and what they are hoping to do with the remainder of the 2019-20 regular season.
"I've had the opportunity roughly about twice a week to be on a conference call with Gary Bettman, Bill Daly, and some of the other presidents and GMs throughout the league," said Reynolds. "It's been fascinating to hear the different types of scenarios, and how they're evaluating this and how they're looking at this."
"The number 1 concern across the league and the NHL is the safety of the players and the fans. It's ensuring that we're in a position when we do return to play that those are the two most important pieces, is the health and safety there," said Reynolds. "There's an incredible amount of optimism and hope across the league that we will be able to continue this season. Ensuring that obviously we want to make sure the health and safety of everyone involved, as well as just making sure that as we look forward to next season, there isn't a significant impact on what the future of the sport holds."
HBSE has worked on giving back to the community during this time and Reynolds discussed why it was important for the company to step up during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Our managing partners and our leadership team is incredibly passionate about, and wants to step up during this time and it's been focused in a few key areas," said Reynolds.
HBSE has worked on giving supplies and financial support to RWJBarnabas Health, Chromebooks to students in the Philadelphia and Northern New Jersey markets, and supporting families by giving over 160,000 meals in the
Newark
area.
"Our belief is that we can make a difference. The platform that we have as a sports and entertainment franchise and organization can continue to spread and make a real difference in this world."
Reynolds also discussed what is the plan for what lies ahead for the organization.
"We don't necessarily know what the next two weeks or month or next three months are necessarily going to look like," said Reynolds. "We can be the most prepared organization in the world. And that comes down to us investing the time and looking forward and having contingency plans built out for different scenarios."
"Times are changing so rapidly and there's new information coming about on an hourly, on a daily and certainly a weekly basis, so how can we continue to be prepared for that," said Reynolds.
