Previewing2324SeasonShowcase

Fall is around the corner and with hockey two months away, it's the perfect time to plan which games to attend at Prudential Center during the 2023-24 season. To help the planning process, here are some key games and dates you will not want to miss!

1. Two is Better Than One

What's better than one season opener? How about the second game of the season the next night! The Devils kick off the 2023-24 campaign against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, Oct. 12th before hosting the Arizona Coyotes just 24 hours later. It's been a long off-season so a double dose of hockey is exactly the way to start the year off strong. Both the Red Wings and Coyotes are teams on the rise with exciting young talent so both games are expected to be exciting matchups.

2. Hudson River Rivalry

Circle Nov. 18 on the calendar and make sure you keep that night open - it's the first time the New York Rangers visit the Rock during the 2023-24 season. The Saturday night showdown will be extra exciting after both teams battled it out in the First Round of the 2023 Playoffs. The Hudson River Rivalry will return to Jersey just one more time on Feb. 22, 2024 so don't miss out!

3. Fight off the Turkey

After a big Thanksgiving feast, the best way to fight off a nap is going to a hockey game. Lucky for you, the weekend is packed with them. On Friday, Nov. 24, the Columbus Blue Jackets are in town for a 3 p.m. matinee against the Devils. The game will be former Devils defenseman Damon Severson's first game back at the Rock and should be an exciting Metropolitan Division matchup.

The next night, New Jersey will host the Buffalo Sabres at 7 p.m. ET for an Eastern Conference tilt. Saturday night's game is the second and final matchup between these Tri-State teams at Prudential Center. The Devils are on the road much of November with eight contests away from the Rock, so make sure to plan ahead and fit in one of the five home games into your schedule!

4. Seeing the Sharks

The final month of the year will bring a reunion for recently re-signed forward Timo Meier. Meier spent seven years playing for the San Jose Sharks before he was acquired by the Devils last season before the trade deadline. Since becoming a Devil, he has yet to play his former team. The Sharks come to town on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. ET as New Jersey kicks off the final month of 2023.

5. Home for the Holidays

No matter where you live, there's no place like home. For all of our Devils fans returning back to New Jersey for the holiday season, there's plenty of games to watch your favorite team play at Prudential Center.

The Devils host their rivals the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 19, before the Edmonton Oilers stop by on Dec. 21. In the Devils final game before the winter break, New Jersey hosts the Red Wings. Right after the holiday break, the Blue Jackets make their second appearance at the Rock on Dec. 27 before the Devils hit the road for their final two games of 2023.

6. Battle of First-Overall Picks

The first home game of 2024 is also a battle of First-Overall picks. Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, and the Devils will host Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. ET. This is a great opportunity to see young talent on both teams face-off ahead of many years of tight competition!

7. The Champs are In Town

Whenever you're the Stanley Cup Champions, there's a target on your back as every team will want to beat you. The Devils are no different as they'll look to get a big win over the Vegas Golden Knights during their first matchup of the season on Jan. 22. The game is also New Jersey's final home game in January and last chance to see the Devils play in Jersey before All-Star break.

8. Let's Go Outdoors!

Saturday, Feb. 17. 8 p.m. ET. MetLife Stadium. Put it in your calendars now! The Devils will host the Flyers for the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series. It's a treat to be a part of one of the NHL's outdoor games and the Devils will look to put on a show in their first outdoor game since Jan. 2014 at Yankee Stadium. It's also the first time the NHL has held an outdoor game in New Jersey, this time at the home of the New York Jets and Giants.

9. Weekend of Early Games

Afternoon games are rare for the Devils this season but the last weekend in February is full of matinees. On Feb. 24, the Montreal Canadiens come to town to face the Devils at 12:30 p.m. ET. The next afternoon, the Tampa Bay Lightning square off with New Jersey at 1 p.m. ET. For the youngest Devils fans out there this is the perfect opportunity to see the team live and not miss bed time.

10. Rematch at the Rock

The final afternoon game of the 2023-24 season takes place Mar. 9 as the Devils host the Carolina Hurricanes at 12:30 p.m. ET. Throughout the 2022-23 season, the games against the Hurricanes were always exciting and this time should be no different. It's a rematch of the 2023 Playoffs' Second Round competitors and a great test for the Devils in the final weeks of the regular season.

11. Toronto's In Town

The second to last home game of the upcoming season features Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Apr. 9. The Devils will host Toronto before heading up North and facing the Maple Leafs on the road two nights later. This late in the season, games can be extra intense with potential playoff positioning and preparation on the line. The Tuesday night game should be an exciting one and an opportunity to see some post-season caliber hockey before the regular season wraps up.

12. The Final Game

The Devils end the 2023-24 season at home against their rival the New York Islanders, an exciting way to wrap up the season! The final home game of the year is often Fan Appreciation Night for the Devils filled with activations, celebrations, and content for all New Jersey's loyal supporters. It should be an intense game from puck drop until the final whistle against a Metro Division rival!
