Following the Devils final practice before the home opener on Friday, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff gave updates on the four players who did not skate and have been out with injuries.
On Mackenzie Blackwood:
"He's still rehabbing off-ice so it's unlikely that he'll be ready," said Ruff. "Bernier feels good, it looks like he's ready to go."
On Miles Wood, Damon Severson and Ty Smith:
"You can put those (players) in the unlikely too. (Severson and Smith) skated, Wood didn't, the other two have skated. You'll probably see Severson in morning skate but unlikely that he plays."
"I'm going to say, game two," Ruff said on Severson and Smith's likely return date. "Smith maybe not quite where Severson's at. Wood hasn't skated now in a few days. It'll probably take two or three days when we get him back. Hopefully we'll get Wood back on the ice tomorrow."
