Devils head coach Lindy Ruff will miss the team's next two games due to the death of his father, Leeson Ruff, who passed away on Jan. 28 at the age of 88.
"The Devils organization is thinking of Lindy, his family and all those who knew Leeson during this difficult time," the team said in a statement.
Assistant coach Alain Nasreddine will run the bench over the next two games - back-to-back home-and-home series against Toronto - in Ruff's absence. The Devils will play at Scotiabank Arena Monday night and host the Leafs at Prudential Center Tuesday night before heading into the All-Star break.
Nasreddine ran the bench for three games earlier this season, 2-1, while Ruff had COVID-19.
