Wedgewood Re-Signs

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today re-signed goaltender Scott Wedgewood to a one-year, two-way contract worth $825,000 at the NHL level and $375,000 at the AHL level. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
Wedgewood, 28, posted a 3-8-3 in 16 games played (15 starts) with New Jersey last season, with a 3.11 GAA, .900 save percentage and a career-high two shutouts. He was the Devils' 2021 nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, as selected by the New Jersey members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The three-year NHL veteran has a 10-18-8 record in 40-career games (36 starts), with a 3.07 GAA, 902 save percentage and four shutouts. Wedgewood spent the 2019-20 season with Syracuse (AHL) in the Tampa Bay organization, where he served as the third goalie for the Lightning as they won the Stanley Cup.

In 110 AHL regular-season games for Albany/Binghamton, Wedgewood posted 51 wins, 36 losses and 16 overtime/shootout losses to go along with eight shutouts. In his eight-year AHL career, Wedgewood has skated in 190 games, posting a 2.45 GAA and .906 SV%.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound netminder was traded to Arizona by New Jersey on Oct. 28, 2017 for Arizona's fifth-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft. During the 2015-16 season, the Brampton, Ont. native played in four games with New Jersey, notching his first two NHL wins, including one shutout. In those first four games of NHL action, Wedgewood totaled a 1.25 GAA and a .957 save percentage.
Born on August 14, 1992, he won a Bronze Medal with Team Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. He made his professional debut appearing in 48 games with Trenton (ECHL) in 2012-13, after spending the prior four seasons with Plymouth (OHL). Wedgewood was New Jersey's second choice (3rd round), 84th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
