As part of the Devils Gender Equality Night celebrations, the Devils will wear warmup jerseys designed by Amrisa Niranjan, pre-game. This is the first time in franchise history that the team will wear jerseys for gender equality. In this edition of Three Things presented by Geico, we take a closer look at all the parts of these warmup threads.

I. THE MARBLING

Throughout the jersey there is a marbling effect of various colors including blue, pink, white, and purple. This was designed to signify the fluidity around gender while using some colors that have been used for gender in the past, and transform them.
"(The marbling) represents the fluidity of what gender itself means," Niranjan said. "The marbling look is the result of blending many colors and figures into one image, and in a way each of us is a piece of the greater picture, fusing together to define what gender equality will ultimately mean."

II. THE RINGS

When you take a closer look at the Devils crest, you'll see three rings surrounding the center which has the NJ in a marbled effect. The rings shows the depth that comes with the conversations and progress with gender equality.
"Each ring is meant to show the depth and layers in the discussion for gender equality," Niranjan said. "It takes time, and work built on work done before. Each ring could be considered a ripple in moving the notch forward on progress towards gender equality."

III. THE ROMAN NUMERALS

Surrounding the crest on the outer ring are multiple Roman numerals which represent different dates important in the conversation for gender equality.

MCMXX (1920): The ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is completed, declaring "the rights of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."
