When the Devils signed Scott Wedgewood this off-season, it was the 28-year-old's second time with the franchise. In this year's training camp Wedgewood is showing his growth in net, and turning heads with players and coaches.
"Wedge is a good goalie. Today he played well, he played well in the last game, so it's great to see, I'm happy for him that he's playing so great," said Blackwood following the game. Blackwood and Wedgewood played together for the Albany Devils during the 2016-17 season. "I think since the last time I played with him to now he's really grown a lot as a goalie and as a person so I'm really happy for him."
Devils Head Coach Lindy Ruff is also impressed by the veteran goaltender and his performance during training camp so far.
"Scott has had an excellent camp so far, played well in the games. His practices, he's been real sharp. So for me, he's had a very good camp so far," said Ruff. "I think he was here competing for an opporutnity and his compete has been great, his practices and games have been excellent."
