The Devils have acquired goaltender Vitek Vanecek along with Washington's No. 46-overall selection in the 2022 NHL Draft from the Capitals in exchange for New Jersey picks No. 37 and 70.
Vanecek, 26, has played 79 games in the past two seasons with Washington, totaling a 41-22-10 record with a 2.68 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and six shutouts. Vanecek, who has also appeared in three playoff games for the Capitals, has won 20 or more games in each of his first two NHL campaigns.
The 6-foot-2, 184-pound Czech netminder was originally a second-round pick (39th overall) by Washington in 2014.
