The Ducks have acquired a 2024 third-round NHL Draft selection from San Jose for defenseman Henry Thrun. With the acquisition, Anaheim now has 11 selections in the first three rounds of the next two NHL Drafts (two first-round picks, five second-round picks and four third-round picks).

"While we are disappointed Henry chose to not sign with our club, we appreciate being notified of his intentions in advance of him becoming a Unrestricted Free Agent," said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. "We wish him the best of luck in his career."
Thrun, 21 (3/12/01), has recorded 5-21=26 points with a +16 rating in 28 NCAA games with Harvard University this season, serving as the team's captain. The 6-2, 195-pound defenseman has earned 15-64=79 points with a +42 rating in 94 career games at Harvard. He also spent the 2020-21 season with Dubuque of the USHL, collecting 8-14=22 points in 24 games.
Originally selected by Anaheim in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Thrun appeared in 124 career games with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program (NTDP), earning 15-61=76 points with a +68 rating in two seasons (2017-19). The Southborough, Mass. native helped Team USA to a gold medal at the 2021 World Junior Championship, while also earning gold at the 2018 U-17 World Hockey Challenge and bronze at the 2019 U-18 World Championship.
