The Ducks hosted the annual Captain's Challenge Fit Finals today at Honda Center. The Captain's Challenge is an initiative of the Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. Program (Scholastic Curriculum of Recreation and Education) and is free to schools through the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.

The Captain's Challenge Fit Finals provided nearly 1,000 local fifth grade students the opportunity to participate in fitness activities in preparation for their upcoming State of California required physical fitness assessments in an encouraging and motivating atmosphere. The event began at 9:30 a.m. and concluded at 1:30 p.m. This was the Duck's first educational, youth focused event in over two years.
The 2022 Captain's Challenge Fit Finals began with Opening Ceremonies held inside the arena at Honda Center emceed by Anaheim Ducks DJ JoJo Maestrado featuring Ducks mascot Wild Wing. During today's event, students were tested on a series of events including a mile run, completing a trunk lift, push-ups, curl-ups as well as a flexibility test through a sit-and-reach assessment.

Anaheim Ducks staff volunteers and community partners such as Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Baptist University, Hope International University, University of La Verne, Anaheim Ducks Die Hards, CORE Hydration, MATT Construction, and Melissa's Produce were on hand to record student scores and create an energetic atmosphere. Afterwards, a celebration featured a prize raffle and catered lunch from Melissa's Produce.

Ducks S.C.O.R.E. offers a two-pronged approach, in-class and physical education, to enrich the education of students. It includes a school supply donation for 18,000 students, an incentive-based reading program (Reading is the GOAL), a science & math program (First Flight Field Trip), and a street hockey program and tournament. S.C.O.R.E. is the primary program of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. The mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is to facilitate and support programs that produce positive change for children and families throughout Southern California by providing educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey and addressing the health and wellness needs of our community.
