Selected by Colorado in the first round (14th overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Shattenkirk has collected 83-300=383 points with a +10 rating and 406 penalty minutes in 679 career games with Tampa Bay, Washington, NY Rangers, St. Louis and Colorado. He set career highs in scoring (45) in 2013-14, goals in 2015-16 (14) and assists in 2014-15 (36). Among defensemen selected in the 2007 NHL Draft, Shattenkirk ranks second in scoring, goals, assists, power-play goals (39) power-play points (172) overtime goals (3) and games played.
An NHL All-Star in 2014-15, Shattenkirk has recorded 8-39=47 points in 85 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with Tampa Bay, Washington and St. Louis, ranking tied for second in overtime goals (2), tied for eighth in power-play points (17), tied for ninth in points and tied for 10th in assists among all defensemen since his postseason debut in 2012.
The New Rochelle, NY native has represented Team USA at several international tournaments, including the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, earning 0-3=3 points in seven tournament games. Shattenkirk also represented his home country at the 2011 World Championship, 2009 World Junior Championship, recording the most assists by a defenseman (8), and 2007 World U-18 Championships where he won silver and was named the tournament's best defenseman. He helped lead Boston University to an NCAA championship in 2009 and was named an NCAA Second Team All-American.
