The Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano show went Hollywood in Buffalo last night, bringing the hockey world to its feet with an unbelievable highlight-reel goal.

With the Ducks and Sabres still scoreless in the second period, Zegras took a pass from Rickard Rakell behind the net, flipping the puck up on to his stick like he was going to attempt "The Michigan", a move popularized by University of Michigan forward Mike Legg in 1996 and then twice by Carolina Hurricane Andrei Svechnikov in 2019.
Instead Zegras decided to put his own spin on the already incredibly difficult move, lofting an alley-oop pass over the net to Milano, who slammed it out of mid-air and past a stunned Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, shocking his himself and his teammates alike.

Zegras and Milano were hardly the only ones stunned by their impressive handywork. The goal quickly exploded to all corners of the hockey world (and beyond) as players, media celebrities and fans alike marveled at a play no one had ever seen before.

Ducks teammates got in on the fun too.

The goal also made its way to SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt, more than earning the "Best Thing I Saw Today" honor and the throne of the program's famous nightly "Top 10".

Former NHL netminder and current ESPN analyst Kevin Weekes called it "absolute sorcery" and "the best assist I've seen".

Zegras and Milano are already inspiring the next generation of NHL talent, as young players all over the world took their shot at replicating the now famous goal, some successfully and many unsuccessfully.
