Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray announced today that forward Ondrej Kase suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder in a game against the Minnesota Wild on Jan. 17 and will undergo surgery on Jan. 30. Kase, 23, is expected to miss 5-6 months. At the time of the injury, Kase ranked second on the club in goals (11) and had 20 points in 30 games this season.

Murray also said right wing Jakob Silfverberg (hamstring) will begin skating soon. Silfverberg, who has missed the past three games, leads the team in goals (12) and has 19 points in 42 games this season. It is hopeful Silfverberg, right wing Corey Perry (knee) and goaltender Ryan Miller (MCL sprain) could be cleared to return to practice after the All-Star break and bye week.
Patrick Eaves (broken rib) will play two more games with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League and then be evaluated.
Gulls update:
Jack Kopacka (wrist) is cleared to play Friday in San Antonio and Kevin Roy (wrist surgery) could be cleared to return to practice in two weeks.
