The end of the 2019-20 Ducks season was made official when the NHL announced its Return to Play Plan on May 26. Anaheim concluded the season with a 29-33-9 record and 67 points, having played 71 games until the regular season was paused March 12 and eventually deemed completed May 26 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over this offseason we're featuring a different Ducks player in numerical order in our annual player review series highlighting key stats and moments from the past season. To sum up Hampus Lindholm's play on the ice this past season, one could look no further than the [slighty edited] lyric 'So steady as [he] goes' by the band The Raconteurs. It's applicable to each of his seven seasons with the Ducks, really, with every passing year providing valuable experience to a defenseman who is still just 26 years of age. And while Lindholm might not have torched the scoresheet this season, the Helsingborg, Sweden native was once again a factor in every game situation.

Lindholm finished the 2019-20 campaign with 23 points (2g/21a) and 34 penalty minutes in 56 games. It marked his second consecutive 20-assist season, having previously done so from 2013-15. He twice posted career-high three-assist performances, including Oct. 26 at Colorado and Dec. 2 vs. LA. At the time of the pause on March 12, Lindholm was six helpers shy of tying his career high in assists in a season (27), set in 2014-15 (78 games).

The two goals he scored this past season represented the 49th and 50th goals of his career. His first of the season came in dramatic fashion on Dec. 14 against the New York Rangers. With the Ducks trailing by a goal, Lindholm found the equalizer with just 1:46 remaining in regulation. His goal proved valuable, as the Ducks prevailed 4-3 in a shootout.
