The Ducks suffered their first regulation loss at home to the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 4-2. The loss dropped Anaheim's record at Honda Center to 2-1-1.

Sam Steel scored his first career NHL goal at the 16:42 mark of the first period. Hampus Lindholm earned an assist on the goal, which gave him points in six of his last seven games (2-6=8).
Brandon Montour earned his first multi-point game of the season (0-2=2).

On the turning point in the game
We took three penalties in a row, and that changed the momentum of the game. They got going a little bit on the power play and got after us. That's probably the turning point.
On the difficulty of finding chemistry with new linemates
You're trying to get to know each other. We have so many guys in and out of the lineup right now, it's hard to get that chemistry. It doesn't excuse the lack of compete we had tonight.

We were in the penalty box too much. It's puck possession. We didn't have enough of it in good places. It makes for a long game. We have to get smart. We talked about it after the Dallas game. Be smarter. We were able to do it in St. Louis a little bit and got a result. I thought tonight we weren't as smart on the puck and in a few areas.

On lack of discipline
The discipline issue crept in tonight. We took three penalties in a row and allowed them the momentum. Any time you do that in a hockey game, and the other team senses an opportunity, they seize the opportunity. The other issue with us was 1-on-1 compete. There were areas of the ice where they out-worked us down low. Came up with more pucks. We were fortunate to be up 2-0. They had us for an extended shift in our zone, and we found a way to put one across the line. From that point on, they seemed to seize control of the game.
On the penalty kill
Too many opportunities and too many seam passes. They have lots of skill over there, like most teams do. If you continue to give teams opportunities to practice their power play consecutively, you're going to give them life. That's what we did tonight.

Two complete games that we just played and I thought that was the first time all year that we got down in a game and we just never changed the way that we played. That second goal could have been a back breaker for us, but we just stuck with it. We played the exact same way and we got rewarded.
On the mindset of staying the course even when being down by two goals
It didn't matter. We knew that we were controlling the play. We had the edge. We just kept going.

On rebounding after San Jose to have a comeback win tonight
I thought it was huge. I thought in the San Jose game, we put ourselves behind the eight ball there with the deficit early. I thought as much as we got ourselves back into it heading in to the third, we maybe got away from our game a bit. I thought tonight we stuck with it. We found a way to win a game on the road.
On having 45 shots on goal and how good the team skated tonight
I thought we worked well. I thought we worked as a unit. I thought we were able to use the close change in the second period to our advantage. I thought we kept them hemmed in their zone. We tired them out. We played really well. I thought we cycled the puck and made it tough on them.

On the response after being down two goals
I just liked the response. We were down 2-0. It could have went a different direction, but we were playing a really good hockey game at that point. We got that first one to get within one, some power play goals, special teams were really solid tonight, but I just think this was the best game of the trip.
On playing fast
When we are moving the puck quick and guys are moving back into positon, we counter quickly. From that point, I think we had a shot mentality. Everything was going to the net and more guys were getting there and making it tough for Miller [Ryan Miller] and we get rewarded.
