The Ducks celebrated their 25th Anniversary Season Home Opener with a 3-2 shootout win over the Detroit Red Wings in front of the 400th sellout in franchise history (17,436, including standing room only). Playing the same opponent as their inaugural game on Oct. 8, 1993, the Ducks tied tonight's contest in both the second and third periods before Troy Terry clinched the win with the lone shootout goal.

The Ducks extended their season-opening win streak to three games for only the second time in franchise history (also 2006-07). John Gibson became the first goaltender in franchise history to start and win the first three games of a regular season after stopping 19-of-21 shots and all three shootout attempts.
Jakob Silfverberg became the first Duck since 2014-15 to record five points in his first three games (1-4=5) following his first goal of the season to tie the score at 2-2 at 8:29 of the third period. Ryan Getzlaf (2-3=5), Corey Perry (4-1=5) and Ryan Kesler (2-3=5) all earned five points in Anaheim's first three games of 2014-15 from Oct. 9-13, 2014.
Max Comtois became the second rookie in franchise history to record at least one point in each of his first three career NHL games (2-1=3) with an assist on the Silfverberg goal. Perry was the first to do so in 2005-06, when he started his NHL career with points in his first four career games (1-3=4).
Hampus Lindholm tallied his first goal of the season, tying the game at 10:57 of the second period. Andrew Cogliano (first point of the season) and Kiefer Sherwood (second career NHL point) earned assists on Lindholm's second-period tally.
At 18 years 11 months and 2 days, Isac Lundestrom became the third-youngest Duck and youngest Ducks forward to make his NHL debut.

On the third period
You have to move your feet and make sure you come up the ice together. You can't have 1-on-1 rushes because they will break them up every time. We did a good job of that. We just came together and played tight.
On the fans
Our fans here have been terrific. All the times I've been here there has always been something special. They made sure to bring a little extra tonight. They were a huge factor in tonight's game. They made sure to keep us in it. We fed off it.

There is so much pressure now whenever I jump over the wall to take those. I've kinda gotten to be known for scoring five hole, so I figured I'd try it again. Luckily it worked.
On the confidence boost
I thought tonight was our best game as a team. I created stuff for myself. It's always good, as a young player, to just know what you're doing is working. Sometimes when they're not going in, or whatever the case may be, you start to deviate from that or take shortcuts. I had some chances in the game. Tough they weren't going in, but at least they were there. To score in the shootout, no matter what the scenario is, it's nice for confidence to beat an NHL goalie.

On the rookies' performance
This is baptism by fire for young players. We have our ample share of them in the lineup, but these are situations hopefully where they can grow and get more confidence. Hats off to them. We put them in situations historically they would play in lower levels. This is the best league in the world. They were in there and survived, so hopefully they feel good about themselves.
On Gibson's performance
He's been our MVP for the three games. You don't have a starting point in the NHL if you don't have goaltending. He's been giving us A-class goaltending here for the first three games, that's for sure.

On the dynamic of the game with so many young players on the ice
It's a fast game out there, I think that's the biggest thing. All these young guys that come up, they can all skate and they want to attack. I think it's great. I thought our young guys again were good tonight.
On how much they need a win to keep young guys from getting down
I think we're just going to stay the course. We've liked the way we played, especially the first two games. Today, again, could be a little better with the puck, but overall we're going to be fine in here if we keep competing the way we are.

On the first three games of the season
Well, the first one we obviously battled and competed. Last night, I thought we pretty much came to play for most of the night. Tonight, for two periods, once again I thought we came to play and they got a fortunate bounce there for the second one and they were able to win the skills competition.
On the biggest difference in Anaheim's play with the big guys being out of the lineup
You know, with Getzlaf, he is such a skilled passer and offensive player. Perry, is an absolute pest in front of the net. It seems like he gets his stick on everything. Kesler is one of the premiere two-way guys in the game. They are finding ways to win right now without their big guys in the lineup.

On Jimmy Howard's play
I thought the game had lots of ebbs and flows. I thought they came out early and had a little better of us. We scored and I thought we were probably better through most of that period and then through the second period. I thought we had big time chances that their goalie made real big saves on. Once they scored, they pushed hard and I thought Jimmy played real good. I thought both goalies were real good tonight, had to be excellent and making big saves in big moments.
On Detroit's first three games
We know it is going to be tight every night. We certainly feel we can score more than we have, as I said, through just some simple stuff. Mainly shoot when we have those opportunities to. I thought we competed. I thought we worked the last two nights better than we did against Columbus. We need to make sure we carry that forward when we come home against Toronto.
