The Ducks will celebrate Dia de Muertos with festivities planned throughout the night. The first 10,000 fans will receive a free Día de Muertos inspired beanie, courtesy of Herdez. Ducks players will will wear custom warm-up jerseys designed by Anaheim artist and lifelong Ducks fan Gustavo Jaimes.
A live Spanish audio broadcast of the Ducks vs. Maple Leafs game will be available on Que Buena KRQB 96.1 FM in addition to a new alternate language Ducks Stream (Español) station via TuneIn.
For the Ducks, it's a chance to right the ship at home and snap a seven-game losing skid, which continued Friday afternoon in Vegas. Anaheim outshot Vegas 29-22, but could get nothing past netminder Logan Thompson, who notched his third career NHL shutout.
"We outshoot them but it's not something to lean on, we still lost 4-0," Adam Henrique said. "You have to learn to hate to lose in this league. It's an unforgiving league and when you're down, it's going to keep pushing you down. It has to come from within the dressing room. We have to find ways to create more and score more.
The Ducks have particularly struggled offensively of late, with six goals in their last five games.
"When they're not going in it feels impossible to score, but you have to work," Henrique said. "The bottom line is you have to work all over the ice. You have to find some ugly ones. You have to try to find some way to get a bounce to go your way and get that confidence rolling in the right direction. We need that to snowball and snowball quickly."
Anaheim will host a motivated Toronto team looking to bounce back from a frustrating loss to the Kings last night in Los Angeles. The Leafs led after the first period, but three straight second-period goals for LA would prove the difference.
The loss dropped Toronto to 4-4-1 on the season and 1-3-1 on the road.
"We didn't get off to a great start last year," said captain John Tavares told reporters Saturday. "It's not what we were looking for this year. You obviously want to get off to a good start, and you play to win every game. Every game we've had a chance to win. Have we played to our capabilities yet? I don't believe so, so we're going to stay with it, keep working."
