The Ducks open the 2022 Rookie Faceoff Tournament tonight in San Jose, taking on the host Sharks at the brand-new Tech CU Arena (7 p.m.).**[STATS](https://theahl.com/stats/game-summary/1025033)**| **[ROSTER](https://cms.nhl.bamgrid.com/images/assets/binary/335490444/binary-file/file.pdf)**Anaheim's roster is headlined by five first-round picks, including Mason McTavish and Pavel Mintyukov, as well as six of the club's seven selections in the 2022 NHL Draft. The San Diego Gulls coaching staff, led by the AHL's all-time winningest coach Roy Sommer, will be behind the bench for Anaheim for all three games of the weekend."I was telling the guys [yesterday], you want to come back from this tournament and have the management going like, 'man, that player, what a great camp he had,'" Sommer said. "You have a good three games up here and I think it carries over into your main camp, going on with momentum."The Ducks will look to continue their dominance of recent rookie tournaments, having posted a 2-0-1 record a season ago to improve to 11-0-2 since 2016."The thing that's kind of cool about the tournament is they're all the same age," Sommer said. "You've got 18 year olds against 21 year olds, it's not like the American [Hockey] League where you're going to see a 20-year-old against a 30-year old veteran...Playing against your peers is so important. You can really see where people are in their development."A live stream and live game blog will each be available on[AnaheimDucks.com](https://www.nhl.com/ducks)shortly prior to puck drop.
