Anaheim began its two-game road trip through the Pacific Northwest with a thrilling overtime win Tuesday night in Vancouver. John Gibson made 41 saves, including two-point blank robberies in overtime, to keep the Ducks alive and Troy Terry scored his first career OT game-winner to clinch the victory.
With a goal and an assist in the win, Terry extended his scoring streak to an NHL-best and career-long 12 games (9-7=16). Terry is one of five players in franchise history with a streak of at least 12 games (Getzlaf, Selanne, Perry, Kariya) and the first since 2013. The 24-year-old winger leads the Ducks in points (9-7=16), goals, power-play goals (three) and game-winning goals (three).
Gibson's 41 save performance in Vancouver continued his hot start to the season. Anaheim's netminder was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week last week, after stopping 62-of-63 shots against New Jersey and St. Louis. Gibson ranks tied for fifth in wins (five) and fourth in saves (306) among NHL goalies.
With points in seven straight games, Anaheim now sits third in the Pacific Division by points (17).
Seattle hosts the Ducks looking to use some home cooking to get back on track and out of the cellar of the Pacific Division. The Kraken have enjoyed much more success on home ice (3-2-0) than away from Climate Pledge Arena (1-6-1), but only have six standings points in their last 10 games (3-7-0).
Former Oiler Jordan Eberle paces the Kraken in goals and points, and has scored in three straight games, including the Kraken's first ever hat trick last week against Buffalo. Former Duck and Kraken expansion draft pick Haydn Fleury has appeared in eight games this season for Seattle.
Tonight's matchup represents Anaheim's lone trip to Seattle this season. The Ducks will host the Kraken twice, on Dec. 15 and Mar. 25 at Honda Center.
