Getzlaf became the 92nd player in NHL history to reach the 1,000 point milestone and the 39th player to do so all with the same club. Of the 29 retired players to record their first 1,000 points with a single franchise, 26 have been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Terry extended his streak to 15 games with a first period assist, matching Getzlaf for the third longest run in club history and keeping pace with Connor McDavid for the longest in the NHL this season. The only Ducks with longer scoring streaks than Terry are Teemu Selanne (17 games in 1999) and Corey Perry (19, 2009). Terry leads the Ducks in scoring (11-10=21) and goals.

Zegras scored twice, including his first career OT goal. The rookie center has four goals (4-1=5) in his last two games.
John Gibson made 28 saves to earn his seventh straight win. Cam Fowler also scored for Anaheim.
Getzlaf wasted little time adding yet another milestone to his long list of career accomplishments, drawing the primary assist on the game's opening goal. Getzlaf took a pass on right wing from Terry as the Ducks attempted to break the puck out of their defensive zone, before spotting Fowler sprinting ahead on right wing. Fowler let Getzlaf's pass bank off the boards, meeting it at full stride just above the top of the circles and firing low slapshot through Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek to put the Ducks ahead early.

Getzlaf has 18 points in 17 games this season. He ranks third among league leaders in assists (17) and tied for ninth in scoring. The goal pushed Fowler's own scoring streak to five games (2-4=6), matching his career high.
The Ducks led for nearly all of the first 40 minutes, but Washington got on the board early in the third period to even the score on deflection by Garrett Pilon.
Anaheim went back ahead on Zegras' first of the night as the rookie cut to the net and zipped a shot between Vanecek's legs to reclaim the Ducks lead.

The Capitals refused to go down quietly though, evening the score again with less than three minutes to play in regulation. Tom Wilson worked his to the front of the net and scored much like Pilon did, tipping home a point shot to tie the game.
The teams traded chances throughout overtime before Zegras ended it. Hampus Lindholm poked a loose puck ahead to Zegras in the neutral zone, who skated it over the blue line before curling to the left side of the ice. Zegras waited for the Capitals defender to pass by him, snapping a high shot over Vanecek's glove to deliver Anaheim's its 1000 win in franchise history.
