Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano provided the offense in spectacular fashion and Anthony Stolarz did the rest with 25 saves, leading the Ducks to a 2-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres tonight at KeyBank Center. With the win, the Ducks moved into second place in the Pacific Division (14-8-5, 33 points) with points in six of their last seven games (4-1-2).

The dynamic duo of Zegras and Milano continued their red-hot pace with an early frontrunner for goal of the year, a behind-the-net lob by Zegras slammed home by Milano in front. Sam Carrick added the insurance tally for the Ducks, who earned three of four possible points on the back-to-back set (1-0-1), opening a five-game East Coast road trip.
Anthony Stolarz stopped all 25 shots he saw for his second shutout in his last three appearances and his third blank sheet as a Duck.
After a quiet, scoreless first period, Zegras and Milano brought the road crowd to its feet in the middle frame with a dazzling video game like goal. Zegras took a pass from Rickard Rakell behind the net, flipping the puck up on to his stick like he was going to attempt "The Michigan", a move popularized by University of Michigan forward Mike Legg in 1996 and then twice by Carolina Hurricane Andrei Svechnikov in 2019. Instead Zegras decided to loft a pass over the net and Milano finished it off, batting the puck out of mid-air and past a stunned Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to give Anaheim the lead.

"It's one of those things I love trying to do," Zegras said. "Sonny was actually calling for it. He was yelling, 'Michigan!' So I ended up just flipping it over the net. He's got great hand eye, and he did the rest."
Zegras (0-8=8) and Milano (3-4=7) each have points in four straight games. Zegras leads NHL rookies in assists (16) and co-leads in scoring (6-16=22).
Milano has 16 points in his last 16 games.
The Ducks took the one-goal lead into the third period and playing the second half of a road back-to-back relied on a Stolarz to weather a furious Buffalo rally and finish the job. Stolarz stood tall throughout the final period, denying all 25 Sabres shots to more than earn his shutout.
Carrick scored with two minutes left, tipping home Josh Manson's point shot to seal the Ducks' 2-0 victory.
