On Saturday, we played Austria and got out to a great start. We continued to play our game and ended up winning with a nice shutout. It was a little weird to play at 12pm noon because the pre game routine was a lot different. Instead of eating chicken and pasta it was eggs and oatmeal for pre game meal.
That was our first game of a back-to-back. Our second game was Sunday night against Sweden. This was for first place in our bracket. We played a solid 60 minutes and were able to hang on to a win despite a late push from them.
We now have a couple days off to recover and get ready before we play in the Quarterfinals. The hotel is close to the rink so we will definitely walk over to watch some of the other games as the group play wraps up. Our team is really excited to get things going in the one and done game stage!

Yesterday we played Team Switzerland at 8 p.m. We spent the day watching the other games on TV and getting prepared for ours. After a pregame nap we headed to the rink together and got ready to play. (Editors note: The U.S. defeated Team Switzerland 7-1).
It was a good win for us and a really fun game to play in. The fans there made for a great atmosphere.
Today we practiced in the morning and got some recovery work done at the rink. We now have the rest of the day to hang out together. Usually we watch the other games, play cards, or sometimes watch movies together. The other day we watched Shutter Island which was a lot of fun.
Looking forward to our game tomorrow against Austria!
Wednesday, Aug. 10
Yesterday we played Germany at 8pm in Rogers Place. We woke up, got some breakfast, and did some mobility work early in the morning. Then we headed to the rink for some video before coming back to the hotel for lunch. After a pre game nap and a snack at the hotel we went back to the rink and got ready for the game.
It was a great win for us to get the tournament started on the right foot.
Today (Wednesday), we had some mobility in the morning and rested while hanging out together. We played cards for a bit and watch some of the other tournament games on TV. We had practice in the afternoon and dinner together after at the hotel. Looking forward to continuing the tournament tomorrow against Switzerland!
