As part of the team's efforts to introduce young boys and girls throughout the region to the sport of hockey, the Philadelphia Flyers are excited to announce the return of the Flyers 'Learn to Play' Ball Hockey program this summer for kids ages 3-9. The Flyers 'Learn to Play' program, which traditionally introduces young athletes to ice hockey, expanded to the outdoors last year with the addition of its ball hockey program in order to make the game even more accessible, convenient, and affordable for parents and young athletes on outdoor courts throughout the tri-state area.

Registration is now open at

through Tuesday, May 3, and programs start on May 7. For just $35, each young athlete who signs up for the program will receive their own Flyers-branded equipment, including a street hockey stick, ball, and reversible pinnie. After a successful inaugural season in 2021, the program will be offered this summer in Marlton, N.J., Maple Shade, N.J., Monroe Township, N.J., Gloucester Township, N.J., and Northeast Philadelphia.
"We want to make sure that every kid in the Philadelphia area has a chance to play hockey, and that's what the Flyers 'Learn to Play' ball hockey program is all about," said Valerie Camillo, President of Business Operations for the Philadelphia Flyers. "Hockey can be a very expensive sport to play, so we prioritized making this program affordable and accessible, plus, the kids get all they equipment they need when they sign up. For us, this is a way to continue growing the game of hockey throughout the area, but it's also an opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported the Flyers for generations."
The Flyers are investing heavily in expanding access to hockey for kids throughout the region. The team's investment in the 'Learn to Play' Ball Hockey program this summer was matched by funds from the National Hockey League and Player Association's Industry Growth Fund (IGF). Earlier this year, the Flyers also announced in partnership with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation plans to build an outdoor street hockey rink at the Joseph Scanlon Recreation Center in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.
